Document Summary

Crick and watson discovered the structure of dna in 1953. Dna structure and respiration [ chapter 13 ] Rosalind franklin"s work in x-ray diffraction was important in revealing the diffraction to find the structure structure of the dna molecule. Components molecules: dna molecule is composed of 8 types of components ( phosphate group, sugar deoxyribose, and base{ adenine, thymine, guanine and cytosine } Nucleotide : 3 molecules link to combine to form basic building blocks of dna ( nucleotides ). Each nucleotide is composed of one sugar, one phosphate group, one of the four bases. The double helix : the bases form stairsteps link with a complementary base. Sugar from one nucleotide links with the phosphate from the next to form double helix. Any two bases can be paired this way a to t or c to g is called complementary.
