The reading suggests, in the holistic, spiritual approach, that teaching is less about teaching and
more about raising children. I disagree. The raising of a child into a functional adult rests with the
parent, and the teaching of skills rests with the teacher. This morphing of teachers into caregivers is
a result of lazy paretig. Raise your o hild, I’ here to teah the ho to pait.
It’s a opliated issue hih rahes ito the falle economy. How can a parent raise a child
when they have to spend time earning money to keep the kid alive? Essentially, nobody has time for
anything unless theyre being paid for it. The reason teachers are becoming less of teachers and more
of caregivers is because they get paid for it. I mean, they get paid the same amount despite their
orkload ireasig fiefold, ut that’s just the eooy, right?
The more I learn in this world, the more I discover that this world and all its systems suck.
1. Which dimension of creativity resonates with you? Why?
Play. Always play.
2. The chapter raises questions about copying and appropriation of artworks.
What do you know about the copyright on images? How would you share this
information with your students?
I know that its usually best to be safe rather than sorry. Using less than 10% of another piece is
legally okay. That allows the use of collage. I do agree with the notion of practicing art by making art
pieces using similar methods. A lot can be learned by doing that, just like music and acting. The
prole ith perforae art is that you do’t hae to reate to perfor. Whe it oes to isual
art, you have to create.
Setting up a classroom in a sense of play. How to structure. Create environment when its not
HUGELY structured cuz art.
Put pieces of art on the table (3d sculpture). Students get to see and feel the sculptures when they
come into class while explaining game. Play a blindfold game. Get students into groups of 3-4. One
student is blindfolded and the other 2-3 must explain the art piece as best they can. Blindfolded
student will try and guess what animal/object the sculpture represents. Swap blindfold and
sculpture after 5 mins. Three rounds. Group with most points wins.
