Week 9: social justice and social determinants of health. Identify and discuss the ways in which equity influences health experience. Not everyone has the same level of health or capacity to deal with their health problems, and it may therefore be important to deal with people differently in order to work towards equal outcomes. Equity is about fairness and that health equity is a situation in which fairness prevails. The overall health of a society is linked with social justice, a fair society is one that promotes the health of all its citizens and that means that action for health involves action for justice. Comparisons of societies that already exist, or could exist, in the interests of finding more just solutions. Differences in: mortality, morbidity, work-related injury rates, access to health services. Social inclusion: a socially inclusive society is defined as one where all people feel valued.
