Document Summary
Conflict arises when one or more parties perceives that another party has negatively affected (or is about to negatively affect) their interests. Conflict is generally caused by the following issues: Theories of conflict vary in their assumptions about the functionality, antecedents (drivers of conflict), and resolution strategies. Negotiation can involve either distributive or integrative bargaining strategies. Micro looked at how factors at the bottom influenced factors at the top. Macro looks at how factors at the top influence lower down. Competitive advantage is how adaptive they are to change. Understanding how to interpret and respond to factors that drive change is an essential management skill. Need to understand what drives change in order to respond to it. Senior managers are expected to plan and implement change. Organisational systems and process transform inputs into outputs.
