Document Summary
Week 7- features of texts: purpose and structure. Lecture: features of texts (structure and purpose) watch now. Two short sections of humphrey, droga, & feez (2012). They usually refer to a stretch, an extract or complete piece of writing or speech. Texts generally adhere to broad conventions and rules which determine the language and structure used in particular text types (cornbleet & carter, 2001) Their forms and conventions have developed to help us communicate effectively with an variety of audiences for a range of purposes. Texts can be written, spoken or multimodal and in print or digital/online forms. (acara, 2013). Moving images+sound+print = (at least) three modes (multimodal) Different places or contexts in which learning occurs. Everyday domain: the everyday and familiar world of home and the community. Specialised domain: the specialised subject areas within schooling. Critical domain: the often contradictory and socially diverse world within and beyond schooling. Register: factors that influence the meaning of text.
