Mechanisms by which b cells and ab protect the host. Cd4+t helper cells + ag on mhc send signals induce. B cells to proliferate plasma cells secrete ab/ig. Tcr are effective only when attached to tcells themselves. Note v,c regions, v needs to be variable because they need to recognize a wide range of ag. Each ig binds to specific fcr on phagocytes. 1 single b cell secrete monoclonal ab (that have identical paratopes) Igm first isotype that is made after b cells are activated. Mutations occur after activation/ ag encounter of b cells. Gc in 2 lymphoid organs = is where class switching / isotype switching occurs. That suggests that as ab is exposed, what substitutions/changes occur. Structure of ab is changing itself to best fit ag (as the table goes down) (aka affinity maturation) Activated b cells may diff into igm then ige or iga. Class switching depends on t cell help occurs in 2 .
