Academic definition: the interplay of biological, psychological, and social aspects of the person"s life. Medical definition: normal physical state ie state of being whole and free from physical and mental disease or pain, so that the parts of the body carry their proper function. World health organization definition: state of complete physical, mental, social well being and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity (health is something you have and exists in yourself) Represent the knowledge base, values and priorities of different constituents. Ottawa charter definition: health seen as a resource for everyday life, not the objective of living. This definition focuses on health as a resource. Not everyone has equal access to health. But collectively we can work towards conditions that reduce health inquiries. This definition focuses on health as a process not an end state. But rather a constant negotiation of being more or less healthy: evolution of health promotion.
