Energy production: catabolic pathways, anabolic pathways. Hydrolysis of single phosphate bond in atp molecule, produces adp. May 1st 2016: this releases a packet of energy, used to drive all kinds of important processes. Muscle contraction, to ion pumping, synthesis of macromolecules (protein, dna, rna) As atp is hydrolyzed to adp, it has to be re-synthesized. This is done through many catabolic reactions (occur in cytosol and mitochondria)
