Document Summary

Immunocytochemistry (ich) is a technique that is used in medical field. Immunocytochemistry usually is used for diagnosis cancers, and other diseases. Cells and tissues have different amount of protein, so in order to know the distribution, location, and what protein express, ich is used to identify that. Researchers use ich to evaluate the existence of antigen in cells. Antigen is a toxin, and the immune system fight it by producing antibodies. Antibodies are proteins that protect the body from foreign substances (duraiyan, govindarajan, kaliyappan, palanisamy, 2012). There are two types of antibodies which are primary and secondary antibodies. Primary antibodies can be used to detect diseases; such as, cancer, diabetes, and many others. Secondary antibody is used to detect the antigen (jasani, thomas, williams, 1981). The main goal of immunocytochemistry is to bind antigen to the antibodies. There are two types of methods which are direct and indirect methods.
