Chys 2p51- individual interviews and focus group interviewing. Ex: surveys, focus groups, photovoice, observations, document analysis and interviews. Compared to see if similar results are found. If the conclusions from each are the same, then validity is established. Popular, but generally requires more time and resources to collect and analyze. Researchers use different sources of data in order to increase the validity of a study. Parents, students, children, families, teachers, friends, physicians, case workers, community members, policy staff, administrators, government staff, etc. Most popular because it is the easiest to implement. Involves using several different investigators in the analysis process. Each investigator examines data with the same method (interview, observation, case study or focus groups) Findings from each evaluator are compared; how the investigator views the issue. If evaluators arrive at the same conclusion, then confidence (validity) in the findings is ensured. May not always be practical- time constraints, individual schedules.
