aggression, problems focusing)

disasters, the death of a loved one

Potential Causes of Trauma
Convulsions; nightmares; amnesia; depression; hyper-vigilance/constant awareness;
silence; avoidance; children running away from home; dissociation (in part, the survivor
attempting to believe that it did not happen to them/hide their memories from themselves);
self-injury; splitting of good/bad; violence and aggression

Traumatic experience is made through symptoms:
The goal is to help children who have experienced trauma build-up their capacity for
resiliency

It has been shown that children with strong attachments to family and community require
less intervention after trauma, however, there are exceptions

Children are said to be resilient when they have coped with, adapted to, and overcome the
effects of trauma..
