Some researchers have claimed that online interactions may supplement or replace in-person interactions, mitigating any loss from time spent online (wellman, haase, witte, & hampton, 2001) Some research has shown, for example, that the internet might help individuals with low psychological well-being due to few ties to friends and neighbors (bargh & mckenna, 2004).
