How does it make me feel? (never use the word relatable ) What themes or isues does the text seem to gesture towards? (not the same as argument, it is like translation. Change a text from literature language to everyday language. What genre? (the more expertise you have with different types of literature the better you"ll be with description. Start describing where the text fits in culturally, text & context. Now you start putting together an argument and collect the data to create a thesis. Look at the details & come up with an argument. When a text is hard to interpret it creates reasonable grounds for an argument. If you have a good enough question, and a good answer, you"ll create an excellent thesis. (not based on feelings) Lambic pentameter- 4 feet with each foot following a pattern of stress/unstressed. History of english sonnet: mid-sixteenth century, the english renaissance.
