Life was determined by social level of last name. Later on people gained focus on marriage rather than birth. Social class till did come into consideration when states were still run by a monarchy. 1900 life - at the turn of the century. Most still could not vote due to the amount of property they owed. Woman could not vote even in constitutional monarchy. Tending the home , bearing children and supporting the men were the woman role in society. 1914 finland and norway gained woman vote. Minority groups in 1900 ( outside great cities) Did not go to school or had much education. Serbian gypsies were a prime example of this. 1900 was the idea of progress and life of change.
