Crisis in the french monarchy: two questions to ask. Pre revolutionary crises: economic crisis 1786 france economy depended very much on grain and harvest. Weather in 1786 was a bad year that affected the crop. Majority of the population believed that when prices of crop were high, there was corruption. The weather was not seen a factor among commoners, but often blamed on individuals. Industrial sector also affected since people had no money spend: financial crisis 1787 different from economic crisis, this asked if the state pay its debs. Five of those majors financial officers, went bankrupted. Seven years" war, 1756 1763, led to an increase in the royal debt. The american war of independence also affected france economy: struggles with the parlement political crisis between the parlemens and monarchy. They validated royal decree to enforce them. Did not agree with louis xiv financial minster with the idea of increasing taxes.
