Document Summary
Infectious agent i(cid:374)stead of (cid:862)(cid:373)i(cid:272)roorga(cid:374)is(cid:373)(cid:863): host is an organism larger than an infectious agent that provides shelter and nutritients, facility of maturation, reproduction and spread. Infection presence of an infectious agent in the body (internally). Any pathogen that fail to enter a host will die. 4 phases: viruses invade the body through a break in the skin or another portal of entry. They take over body cells in order to replicate. Dendritic cells recognize the invaders by the antigens on their surface. They than provide the information about the pathogen by displaying their antigen on their surface. Helper t cells read this information and rush to respond: helper t cells trigger the production of killer t cells and b cells. Cytokines, chemical messagers secreted by lymphocytes, help coordinate the immune response: killer t cells and natural killer cells destroy infected body cells.
