But ses connection has persisted and occurred again in 1930s and 80s. People with higher socioeconomic means have better access to resources (money, power, connections etc) and these things lead to a difference in mortality rate, regardless of the cause of death. Resources are interchangable, don"t need all of them all the time. These counter the proximal effects (poor access to healthy food, risky behaviours etc. ) of these diseases based on socioeconomic means.
