Studied relations between behaviour and psych states/mind (stress) and psych; health and theories. Why study health and behaviour: interesting, demonstrated effects of behaviour and mind on health. Recent model biopsychosocial model: mind/body are linked; bio social and psych factors are important. Case study of (cid:498)norman cousins(cid:499)- writer who suffered from. He would watch funny shows at the hospital and laugh in an painful collagen disease exaggerated way to anything he found in the slightest bit funny (favourite show was the 3 stooges) Correlational studies (surveys) laughter and health: study group of people (multiple people- large group of individuals, do variables (cid:498)go together(cid:499) or vary together, e. g. , health behaviours (below and breslow 1972) Defined 7 health habits (e. g. , sleep, 7-8 hours, exercise, no smoke) Looking for a relationship/ correlation between health habits and these overall health outcomes given a score for this as well. Also followed up 9 years later (prospective)
