Idealism --> cynicism (wanting to help people becomes the idea of being an imposter and not seeing yourself as able to do it due to the immensity of knowledge, so you develop a cynicism) Cloak of competence/impression management (learn how to present a cloak and hide your cynicism) Class/sex/race based recruiting of students creating tensions in doctor-patient relationships. Tries to understand the traits that define a profession. A high level of skill that was based on theoretical knowledge. An adherence to an ethical code of conduct.
