Intro: background on jane eyre she is an orphan who lives with her aunt and cousins. She does not get along with her cousins and she is eventually sent away to a convent where she is mistreated and although it is terrible she still prefers it over living with her cousins. After a few years at the convent she becomes a teacher. She becomes a governess to a young girl at an estate where she ends up meeting mr rochester who she falls in love with. She sees a lot of suspicious things happen around the estate and she has lots of nightmares that really scare her. At her wedding, she finds out that rochester is married to a woman named bertha antonietta mason, and she is locked up in a room on the third floor. She is a creole woman from spanish town jamaica and she married rochester in order to share their wealth.
