The term globalizaion was fairly common by the 1980s, and it coninues to be relevant. It can be used to refer to cultural and social paterns, but it is probably most commonly used to refer to an economic patern. This process happened over ime, and it can be periodized in at least two major ways. Associated with the spread of commerce around the world since about 1500. Associated with industrializaion, which was underway by about 1800. Both processes were part of an evolving poliical-economic system we can call capitalism. Periodizing the global history of the working class. Globalizaion was achieved by the applicaion of neoliberal policies. These policies began gaining support as soluions to economic problems in the 1970s. Neoliberalism called for freer internaional trade and investment, for limiing labour rights, and economic de-regulaion more broadly.
