The topic of sense-certainty: dealing with sense objects: sensuous. The stance we have is of the phenomenological observer. The problem is, sense-certainty wants/thinks it has certainty and personal but it is truly universal; a contradiction emerges. Doesn"t reject sense-certainty, there are merely problems with it. Hegel is trying to give more precision to what he is saying. Grasping a particular when it is universal; tries its best to not fall into the same trap as sense- certainty. We are aware of its colour, its shape, size, taste, Saying the colour is white, there is no way to not refer to a universal. These are all appealing to some kind of universal, sensuous universals. Picking our properties, but they aren"t particular, they are not substantiated in this way. Hume bundle theory: an object is just a bundle of these qualities, the object is simply a medium. The sugar cube is a medium for sensuous universals, these qualities are substantiated or located.
