Anxiety is adaptive but when it is dysfunctional and not pertaining to its actual function it becomes a disorder. Elicited by possible/ambigious threat in which danger is not imminent (may be imaginary) Apprehension (worry) that one can not control or predict upcoming events. Anxiety and worry associated with 3 of the following: These must persist for atleast 6 months. They impair in social or occupational functioning.
