Cases studies: adv is a more complete analysis of the individual; rich source of data, disadv is limited generalizability. Correlational studies: descriptive in nature, you want to see if this variable is relatable to this variable. Given correlation like there is a positive correlation= as one increase the other also increase. The problem is that we can"t determine causality: the timing of the variable is importatnt, we don"t know what comes first, depicted from +1 to -1. The problem in this research is that you can"t follow them across time and you can"t follow change across time. Longitudinal designs: can look at things overtime. Lets follow people that will engage in a smoking quits programs, will see who continues to smoke or continue to quite. Looking change over behaviour overtime: the disadv, it is expensive and takes a lot of man power, as it is loger period of time and its time consuming for researchers.
