Description (what) plus explanation (how, why) e. g. - darwin"s theory ; that the characteristics of a species to t where it lives. Darwin conversed with other theorists who were completing the same thing. Common sense : everyday theorizing: opinions, received wisdom, inconsistent and incoherent e. g. - interactions with a friend or a roommate that is driving you crazy or why they could be in a bad mood. Or how 78% of full time workers are below the poverty line. Sexual double standards, young men who get applauded for many sexual partners while women get shamed for the same actions: systematic searching for the actual causes of phenomenon, huge body sociological theory, dating from 19th century. Learning formal theory: different schools of thought e. g. - functionalism, marxism, feminism, critical race theory.
