Introduction: young women are particularly targeted by marketers to buy into particular forms of femininity, we are in the midst of an over-sexualization of young women. Important consequences of this phenomenon: consequences are potentially damaging and serious. *not going to be affected the same way. Sexualization & examples: all four elements do not need to be present; any one can indicate sexualization, any one (male, female, old, young) can be sexualized, particularly important for children; sexuality should never be imposed on young people. Who is responsible: overt sexualisation of young girls is not caused by one person or contributing factor, underscoring all of these is the unequal treatment of girls and boys, men and women in north. Interconnectedness of cultural factors, personal actions, familial relations and consumerism. America: gendered norms, social divisions based on gender and the overvaluing of the work done by one gender over another are the foundation which allows the overt sexualization of young girls.
