We are not necessarily fully conscious about what mise-en-scene is doing, subordinated to the narrative, like continuity editing, constructed in a way that it is seamless. That"s why everyones name is listed, bc everyone is important. Pan and scan when films are literally cut down to fit screens, can change meaning (star wars example, cuts people out of the image) Will create a specific effect in our perception; same thing with lines, what direction are the lines? (ex. only shows her head, so shows that she only has one idea in her head)
