Document Summary

Motivated behaviours are a group of behaviours which appear to be purposeful and goal. Lecture 22: sex oriented. o motivation cannot be identified in the brain, rather it is our inference of why someone engages in a given behaviour. While sex is not required for our individual survival, this does not convince us that sex is unimportant. During development, the male and female body develop from the same cells and tissue. At approximately 6 weeks gestation, the male and female gonads (the testes and ovaries) and external genitalia begin to differentiate from the same tissue. Congenital adrenal hyperplasia produce an excess of androgens: condition in which the adrenal glands of a female or the mother of an xx fetus, mild case: no physical abnormality, but there may be behavioural affects. A high incidence of tomboy" behaviour and same sex attraction: severe case: the clitoris may develop to the point of being mistaken for a small penis.
