Lewis (type type idenity theorist) proposes a funcionalist theory ( a version of the type type physicalist theory: we can, in principle, have a 1 to 1 correspondence between mental state terms and physical terms. Shorthand of a folk psychological generalizaion (funcionalism: theory of mind, social cogniion, two types: We have knowledge about something (theoreical knowledge) and we use it to solve a problem. But you don"t noice it since we do it all the ime. Ex: if someone desires something and believes something: bob decides to drink a beer, bob knows that if he goes to pub, he will be able to drink a beer, so he is gonna go to a pub. We have the ceteris paribus: = other things being equal , this clause gives you the idea that lots of stuf can happen that could interfere with this situaion, but we just assume that it all works out.
