Physicalism: is broken down into two secions. Smart is a type physicalist (therefore, also a token by implicaion but stronger as a type physicalist) A representaive of the group/type: claims that mind = brain (body, in general, you can disinguish between types of objects, and the objects. Ex: 2 pieces of chalk are 2 tokens of the same type. But they are diferent things, not the same piece of chalk. Both are instances of the same type, but diferent tokens. Most of our terms refer to many objects. Ex: book can refer to any book: example: Both ways are describing the same phenomena: advantage of type physicalism: you can tell a lot about the mental just by what you see physically. Smart is sill struggling with this issues: therefore, 2 ideas running through smart"s work: Ex: heidi says, i think these chairs are maroon coloured (the report on the chair) Smart uses ocum"s razor part of the behaviour.
