Document Summary

Yerkes-dodson law. resource theory of attention deals with performance / arousal. Only have limited amount of attention, have control. Too much arousal, performance goes down, not enough arousal as well. 2 types of attentional limits: specific, and non specific energy resources. Tasks have limits: attention to do something with effort, and structural limits. Sharing attentional resources: trying to do 2 things at the same time. Listening to radio while driving causes attentional resources to be used. Graphs: performance going up, resources have limit. As resource goes up, data limited plateaus to a limit. More attending, more awareness, it does reach a point. Performance goes up, and have some limits. More attention = more awareness means better performance that is data limited. Automatic, rapid, unintentional, do not require resources.
