Not many very old buildings. police station comes in: oldest house is around 1750 -older extreme of the village, bousseau house, bigger than other, shows same characteristics, mayor house reflects their social status. 1865 built stores, still there, a doctors office came in around then as well, and a baker, all service are there together with upper class residence. People like artiste, doctors: they operated this big mill in the middle of sault recollect. Pascale built a very big and strange house for a french guy. Introduced on north part of island a type of architecture that was not there before, and by a francophone elite, wanted to appear successful. At the time british architecture was popular at the time.
