Foods have varying amounts of nutrients: other useful compounds which are not nutrients are also found in foods, these compounds, called phytochemicals, promote health and may protect us from chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease. Scientific studies show that phytochemicals in soybeans called isoflavones help lower risks for certain cancers. Nutrients in the body: the body"s composition shows varying amounts of each of these nutrients. Water 50-60: dependent on gender (males = 60%, and females = 50%) Fat 15-25: dependent on gender also, due to differences in water content of the body (males = 15%, and females = 22-25%)
