EXCI 357 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Ventricular Escape Beat, Qrs Complex, Atrioventricular Node
Document Summary
Pvc: may not be preceded by a p wave & a larger qrs complex. Pac: u have a p wave but it is distinguished cause the p wave might be smaller or larger then normal (no pause in heart beat) Atrial escape beat: self-generated discharge in the atria p wave might be a little bigger (get a pause and then atria will initiate a beat) beat will be norma; Ventricular escape beat: self discharge initiated by ventricles no p wave on ecg. Qrs complex is not coming from av node cause much much larger and wider. Av block: p wave but no qrs complex then a nomal ecg and an other skip of qrs. Junctional escape beat: normal qrs complex in the absence of a p wave. Midterm: %blood in the systemic vs venous system, sympathetic stimulation to arteries increase resistance to blood flow, sympathetic vasoconstrictor nerves bind to alpha receptors of vascular smooth muscle leading to vasoconstriction.
