Document Summary

Testcase: networking through the lens of system design. We need to know all of this to design networks. We are working to increasingly larger components which can complete increasingly complex tasks. We are still not at the level of a fully working computer, but we are getting there. Most people are users rather than created, so users do not need to know how these things work. Two machines can talk to each other via a network. This can be any two machines a cash register and an inventory, for example. The simplest version of this is to have a wire running through the machines. For example, scanning a barcode will send a message through the wire to the inventory and tell the inventory to decrement the item by one. This inventory is a database, and this is where the code is written. The key challenge here is to avoid having both communicate to each other at the same time.
