Space: we inhabit spaces that are beyond the defined areas we think of as home, our town, our place. Spaces can be topical like rural spaces, and they can be historical such as the spaces affected during the second world war. We have a sense of space and we often construct spaces and our relationships with and between spaces (see gidden"s. Place: place and places can be defined more finitely than spaces. We know, by learning, that we have boundaries around places and those can be physical and political, cultural, economic or power-based (walls). We use the phrase i have a sense of place. We also think of places as (basically) those that are home and those that are away .
