Mici 2100 lecture 7 september 25, 2018. Cold lunch meats contain listeria and senior citizens cannot handle it well. Cold lunch meats can be contaminated at some level. Most of us can fight off listeria quite easier but not for immunocompromised people. In the case with the maple leaf contamination, people found that on the meat slicing machine, there was a biofilm forming on top of it. Identification of outbreaks and patterns of transmission: why are some diseases reported and others not, self limiting or transmissible, h1n1 issues. Some diseases are reported where physicians have to submit the case to the public health authority. Some diseases are reported because it helps in the cases where pathogens that are dangerous. In particular, reportable diseases are the ones that often can kill people and are highly transmissible.
