Dna to rna requires and rna polymerase 2. (ddrp). We meck ddrp fi tc genes and we have ribosomes fi tl rna. Some use tc machinery from us(rna to mrna). Cis regulatory factors: a promoter that is part of dna. For a dna viruses, viruses use our machinery in our nuclei to copy dna to rna. Rna viruses need an rdrp . we do not have rdrp because we meck rna from dna not rna from rna. Gene expression: convert gene (dna or rna) into protein(dna to rna to protein)
