Lecture 4 - a brief history of the (modern) world. All organized in more or less the same way - a person or small group is able to co and have power over a group. Only involved themselves in peoples lives in a military. Leads to more and more empires similar to france in 1600s. Other entities can"t survive while sharing a habitat with these territorial sta. Not able to take advantage of their people and resources. Most of these actors have transformed or been killed by 1500s. Slaves are like farm animals, under feudalism the metaphor becomes paren. You are in control of these people, but you still have an obligation to after them. Done on a global scale - colonies are children. Plunder - about going out in a war and gaining as many resources as possible. Beat someone at war, take their resources to control al states arent/child n to look.
