Purpose was to separate children from the influences of their families and community in order to destroy their culture. Many children who left schools eventually grew up to take up drugs, alcohol and violence in their own homes. Colonial violence: violently influencing the system or policy of a nation seeking to extend or retain its authority over other people or territories. People living in societies are connected by systems of economic exchange. In this sense, we are living in and participating in these system, and making a difference in them by the choices we make (buying local, etc)
