S1 induction (in context of regulative dev): group of cells inducing another group of cells to take on certain characteristic. S3 notochord (mesoderm) above it is ectoderm forming a ridge, will pinch together to form neural tube. Neural crest will come out close to neural tube. Sc: induction : 1 cell telling another cell what to do (tells it to turn on blue, inherited by its progeny). Right; as going thru progressive rounds of induction: cells asquire moreand more specific states as differentiation occurs. Ex pancreatic cascade of tf activition: starts with pdx1 (identifies any cell that"s gonna be part of the pancreas) , progressivley more and more specific tf"s activate that will distinguish particular cells that will make up the pancreas. Progressively more and more subtypes of cells, based on patterns of tf"s being activated , happens during induction.
