Green chemistry: focus on the design, development, and implementation of chemical processes and products that reduce or eliminate the use and generation of hazardous substances. Derived from the processing of agricultural crops. Use of petrochemical solvents are the key to the majority of chemical processes. These processes have severe implications on the enviroment. Social responsibility: protects employees, competitive benefits, social cohesion, cultural identity. Environmental integrity: efficient use of natural resources minimized harm climate change biodiversity reduce non product output. Green chemistry, not the same as sustainability. Established industry will try and stop innovation particularly if your innovation will put them out of business. Green chemistry represents new business opportunities that are sustainable. Principle of green chemistry: raw material or feedstock should be renewable, rather than depleting.
