ANAT 261 Lecture Notes - Lecture 17: Muscularis Mucosae, Fried Egg, Microvillus
Document Summary
You should always have a general plan on any system you are looking at. Mucosa: epithelium, lamina propia, muscularis mucosa (just smooth muscle, 2 layers) Muscularis: 2 sublayers ( 3 in the stomach, internal(circular, external(longitudinal) Serosa (or adventitia) basically c. t. that links everything together. You find the glands in submucosa (mucous glands called esophageal glands) Esophagus goes to lower esophagus sphincter then to the stomach. Bottom of stomach is the pyloric region which is connected to the pyloric sphincter. Then its goes to the duodenum of the small interstine. Mucosa divided to two region: pit(upper portion) and gland. From the pit, theres a transitional region called the neck region which then becomes the gland. Epithelium lamina propia muscularis mucosae submucosa ( loose or dense c. t. Depending where you are) muscuaris: internal oblique middle circular external longitudinal serosa. Ulcer: leakage of acid due to a hole in the lining of stomach.
