ANSC 312 Lecture Notes - Lecture 13: Antigen-Presenting Cell, Natural Killer Cell, Mhc Class Ii
Document Summary
*please note that these notes complement the lecture slides. Specific immune system: proteins (antibodies) and cells (t lymphocytes) Humoral immunity can recognize the infected cells right away, while the cellular immunity needs cell in order to identify the infected cells. Main four steps for the specific immune response: activation, proliferation, differentiation, immunologic memory. Humoral response is through antibodies that circulate in the blood and cellular is through the cells (t lymphocytes) Immunogenicity = ability to generate an immune response. Antigenicity = ability to react with the antigens. Polyclonal response: different parts of the antigen can be recognize by the specific immune response. Monoclonal response: there are only one way to the antigen that allow the immune system to recognize it. The important part is the reaction between these mhcs with the t cell receptor complex (tcr), present on t lymphocytes.
