ANTH 206 Lecture Notes - Lecture 11: Great White Shark, Food Web, Microbial Ecology
Document Summary
You study from the smallest molecules to the biggest ecologies. Community concepts depends mainly on population genetics and the ecology. Ecological units (starting from the smallest units to the largest) Population: all the individuals of the same species in the same area (ecosystem) Ecosystems: the ecological unit that contains different populations. It consists of all populations residing in a particular area, or groups of species usually classi ed according to their most prominent members. Community is an assemblage or associations of populations of two or more different species occupying the same geographical area and in a particular time. There are many interactions between species or populations in ecology such as: predation, competition, commensalism (when you have a species that bene ts from the other but the other doesn"t care. Eg: great white shark hunts and other sh will take what is left: mutualism. Adding chemicals could have effects on the populations in the world.
