What is causing the sea levels to rise: because of thermal expansion, the warmer the oceans get, the more space they take up, water doesn"t change its volume or density as much as air, but still an increase in the temperature of the water causes it to expand, eventually, melting ice, especially over land, will continue to contribute to sea level rise. Sj and pj identify the subtropical and polar jet stream: on average, especially in winter, there are two regions where the temp changes rapidly, and that leads to the creation of the jet stream, one of those regions is near us (pj from the change in arctic air masses to air masses coming off the ocean which creates a strong wind) , and there"s another region around the latitudes of the southern us (sj from the land mass of the us to the warm gulf of mexico)
