A cell is isolated from embryo and put into a neutral environment (absence of embryonic environment cues), if it develop into tissue consistent to it"s fate then the cell is already specified. Remains the original fate even in a different environment. Isolated hairy cells (trochoblasts) will develop to their cell fate, at the right timing as those remain in the embryo. Eggs develop from distal tip cell (stem cells niche) in the gonads. Position of cells corresponds to their developmental states. P granules are composed of maternally contributed rnas and rna binding proteins (translational control of gene expression) Labeled p granules specifies germ line (only concentrated into one cell) Separated 8 cell embryo, each blastomeres only form certain kind of germ layers. Removing muscle progenitor (b4. 1) results in no muscle differentiation in larvae (done with in situ hybridization) Correlative evidence: b4. 1 makes muscle; b4. 1 contains red plasm.
