The internet is fundamentally a bunch of computer connected by physical wires. These computers are all over the world. Computers may be indirectly connected to one another through paths. All information over the internet is connected through indirect paths. The challenge is how this information is delivered. Taking really large files, blasting them into small pieces, putting them in envelopes called packets, and sending it through the internet. This has the name and address of the destination and the name and address of the source (sender) I. e. when you stream a movie, your laptop is getting a discrete set of packets one after another, not a movie flowing into it. A universal representation for all information over the internet; it is the language of information for computers. Allows us to express numbers in base-2. Binary can be used to represent everything with numbers. How things are represented on the internet. Derek a string that is 5 characters long.
