In a private space, one feels that one controls one"s environment even when one does not. Other people know that, but they don"t know the other space. Privacy is also an imagined relationship for the other person as well. The death and life of great american cities she wrote this book. She argued that neighborhoods should be like the mile end: mixed use, neighbors should know one another; blocks should not be too long. The other kind of surveillance: you walk into a party and survey who"s there. Privacy is thought of as default but privacy must be produced in order to be experienced. Reddit you can read it and vote for things you can also just read. Lurking why go if you"re not going to participate. There are all these media situations where people pay attention.
