If we don"t have an intervention plan, then what will actually happen. We want to target the crisis before the crisis actually happens happens. The school faculty needs to work as a team. Prevention lessens the likelihood of a crisis most people think otherwise. Ther should be bullying prevention programs (or professional development about bullying prevention) Targeting unacceptable behaviour: bullying, violence, drugs. Building pro-social behaviour: peer medication, community service, mentoring. What is the crisis (death, violence ): determine the impact of the event on the school community (students, parents, teachers, support staff) Who is there to intervene (social worker, school board, psycho-educator, nurse ): determine the extent of support services needed. Develop an action plan about how the information is going to be disseminated. Provide information to the staff before school hours or as soon as possible after the crisis.
